Day 73 - Dead Fly

Ok, this picture is totally gross and cool (to me!) at the same time. I need to give a little back story first... A couple of weeks ago there was a fruit fly in our house and I could not kill it for the life of me. It was too small to keep an eye on and too quick when I would finally see it. After the kids had gone to bed I sat down on the couch with a glass of wine. I finished about half the glass and was going to throw the rest when I noticed the fruit fly was dead in my glass! Ewww! I was glad to be rid of the pesky little thing but totally grossed out that it was in my drink. It wasn't in there while I was drinking it, I would have saw it sooner if it was but still!

Now fast forward to today. There is another fruit fly in the kitchen and I can't kill it! (I always notice them the day after I go grocery shopping so I must bring them home with me.) I remembered what happened with the last fruit fly and I also remembered we had some white zinfandel in the fridge which I didn't care for at all so it was just going to waste. So I poured a glass of wine and sat it on the counter. The kids and I had just sat down at the table for lunch. Five or so minutes later I look over at the wine glass and there is a fly in there. Not a fruit fly, just a plain ol' fly. I didn't even know there was a fly in the house. We had our move inspection today so I'm guessing the fly came in when the lady was looking in the backyard. Anyway, I was totally grossed out again but happy that the fly was dead. Dawson asked to see it so I showed it to him and decided this would be today's picture. Totally gross, I know, but I like how you can see the fly and it's reflection. I think it looks cool. :D

And now you know that if you ever have a fruit fly or a fly that you want to get rid of you just have to set a glass of wine on the counter and wait.

  1. I think it's gross and cool at the same time, too. I like the angle you got and the reflection.
